OPPERA II: UNC to Lead $16 Million Research Study on Pain Disorders

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) has been awarded a $16 million grant by the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research over five years for the continuation of clinical pain research begun as the OPPERA study (Orofacial Pain Prospective Evaluation and Risk Assessment). OPPERA II program directors are UNC’s Drs. Gary Slade and William Maixner  (who was the principal investigator for OPPERA I). The grant will be split among OPPERA’s four recruitment sites:
